My first child came early, as in four to six weeks. We were never sure of the due date, so that’s a guesstimate.
I still remember the moment I realized I’d never NOT be a mother.
I was walking through Macy’s in a mall in Rosedale, MN, on my first outing without my son. I couldn’t stop thinking about him. When my girlfriend (who already had four children) asked how life as a new mom was going, I stopped walking. “I’ll never not be a mom, will I?” After nodding her head in the affirmative, I knew a day wouldn’t go by without thinking about my children.
Almost twenty-five years have passed since then, and I can say it’s true. I think about them every single day. They’re a part of my DNA now, and that firstborn son will be getting married in two weeks.
Two weeks! I’m excited and nostalgic.
In honor of Mother’s day, here are five links to funny blog posts about kids and parenting. I think both men and women (whether parents or not) will enjoy the stories these women tell.
